Joint Kent Chiefs

The Joint Kent Chief Executives is the strategic management group for Kent and Medway, supporting and underpinning the Kent Council Leaders, providing oversight and direction to officers to take forward Leaders’ agreed actions.

Joint Kent Chiefs is made up of the Chief Officers (or equivalent) of Kent County Council, Medway Council, the 12 District and Borough Councils in Kent, Kent Fire & Rescue, Probation, Kent and Medway NHS, Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner, Kent Police and the Kent Area Manager at JobCentre Plus.

Joint Kent Chiefs:

  • Takes forward activity on the strategic issues and opportunities facing Kent & Medway
  • Ensures that where common action or consistency across Kent is required, it is enacted
  • Engages with senior officers from across the wider public sector locally, regionally and nationally, ensuring the needs of Kent are well established 
  • Provides leadership to the professional groups on key themes across the county
  • Not a formal committee and not decision-making

The Joint Kent Chiefs meet monthly. The meetings are chaired by William Benson, Chief Executive of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, and vice-chaired by Stuart Bobby, Chief Executive of Gravesham Borough Council.
